FARM Program Office
The staff of the Kyiv FARM office are the hub of the FARM Oblast Extension Service providing important operational and administrative support on a daily basis including assistance in areas such as program development, program implementation, recruitment of staff, financial management and human resource management. Kyiv FARM office staff regularly visit the FARM Oblasts providing mentoring and “in-the-field” training support in extension methodologies and extension service development.
Another important role of the Kyiv FARM office staff is the planning and coordination of training for FARM Extension Specialists; this includes training in all aspects of extension methodologies and in the technical specialty areas and is key to having a competent and professional staff group.

“Improvement of a whole cycle of livestock production through application of a comprehensive approach of livestock maintenance, feeding, and breeding”
People to Animal Technology Association (PAT) in partnership with the Canadian Beef Breeds Council (CBBC) will work for the improvement of a whole cycle of livestock production through application of a comprehensive approach of livestock maintenance, feeding and breeding. Participation of the Association and its partners in the project will strengthen internal capacities of these organizations, increase membership, increase the number of services provided to clients which will result in general development of civil society in the country.

“Creation of S“Preparation of Scientific and Practical Commentary on the Law of Ukraine "On Agricultural Extension Activity"
Agrarian Markets Development Institute" (AMDI) (Kyiv, Ukraine) in partnership with the FARM Program will publish a scientific and practical commentary on the Law of Ukraine. The aim of this project is to enhance the effectiveness of realization of the Law of Ukraine “On Agricultural Extension Activity” by bodies of executive power, local government, subjects of agricultural extension activity via profound interpretation of the articles of this Law and preparation of practical recommendations on its basis. Publishing of the scientific and practical commentary on the Law of Ukraine “ On Agricultural Extension Activity” will facilitate the cooperation of extension services with the government authorities and other engaged institutions and will have positive effect on the quality of regulatory legal acts, provided in the Law, and their adoption. Specialists of educational and scientific institutions, government authorities, extension services, lawyers and legal advisers will be engaged at the elaboration and preparation of the commentary. This will allow conducting of the profound analysis and elaborating of the uniform understanding of some articles of this Law.

“Support of the Development of Organic Agriculture in Ukraine”
The Association of Farmers and Landowners of Ukraine (AFLU) are parntered with The Ministry of Agrarian Policy Of Ukraine and Canadian Partner OCIA International.The project seeks to develop the organic agro production sector in Ukraine, create additional market opportunities for agricultural traders, and develop export opportunities and innovations in the agricultural sphere. The objecives or the project are to: Provide organic production information to traders and producers; assist in the creation of a state-supported system of organic production; assist in export market development of bulk and processed organic products; establish organic information, consultation networks; provide information on International organic standards and regulations to producers and processors; promote advantages of organic production methods to farmers and teach farmers how to manage organic requirements on their farms.

Creat of serials of Scientific and Research Films: Developing of the Extension Service in Ukraine”
National Agricultural University of Ukraine (NAU) (Kyiv, Ukraine) in partnership with the FARM Program is developing a series of scientific and research films in the following topic areas: Agricultural Business and Environment; Development of Rural Communities: 4-H and youth; and Extension Education. The provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba will contribute provincial specialists to provide support for the implementation of this project. These films, once developed, will be used for full time, extracurricular and Distance forms of studying in extension. NAU’s intention is that all agricultural institutions will have the possibility to improve their activity in Extension Service through the distribution and use of these films.

Completed Projects
"Information and Training Support to the Development of Agricultural Service and Credit Cooperatives in Ukraine"
The Ukraine National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives ( Kyiv, Ukraine) will work with the Canadian Cooperative Association ( Ontario, Canada) to create a training centre for agricultural service and credit cooperative development. Key activities will include training seminars, informational promotion on cooperatives, conference on market infrastructure development, and development of informational video and website.
Status: Project activities complete.
"Introduction of Law on Ukraine ‘On Individual Farm’"
The Association of Farmers and Land Owners of Ukraine (AFLOU of Kyiv, Ukraine) partnered with the Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan (APAS of Saskatchewan, Canada) with the aim to inform farmers and household plot owners about a new law in Ukraine on 'Individual Farm '. Their partner APAS was tasked with providing general guidance/assistance via correspondence in terms of developing promotional literature, conducting seminars, and providing board training to AFLOU. AFLOU successfully undertook the following activities: publishing a special issue of "Visnyk Fermer Ukrayiny"; publication of pamphlets; two day training seminar for board members; and creation of a legal consulting group and the project concluded March 2004

"Producer and Consumer – Linking of Interests"
The Association of Enterprises of Fruits and Vegetable Traders (AEFVT of Kyiv, Ukraine) and the Alberta Farm Fresh Producers Association (Alberta, Canada) partnered with the goal of providing support indirectly to producers, through a number of sector associations, and directly by delivering training to traders and producers themselves. Among other activities, this partnership developed a consulting hotline for farmers and entrepreneurs; worked to create an efficient system of marketing agricultural products; and made efforts to increase knowledge of agricultural producers and entrepreneurs in business planning, general and financial management, and in conducting business negotiations. Project activities were concluded in December 2004.

“Creation of the system of information provision of agricultural advisory services through joint use of web sites “www.dorada.org.ua” and “www.agroua.net“and web site of Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences”
The National Association of Agricultural Advisory Services of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine) partnered with National Agricultural University Kyiv, Ukraine) and the Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Science (Kyiv, Ukraine) on the project, "“Creation of the system of information provision of agricultural advisory services through joint use of web sites “www.dorada.org.ua” and “www.agroua.net“and web site of Ukrainian Academy of Agricultural Sciences”.This project was aimed at advancing the activities of agricultural advisory services through the improvement information provision and the joint use of existing websites www.dorada.org.ua (National Association of Agricultural Advisory Services of Ukraine) and www.agroua.net (National Agricultural University). It also sought to create a website for the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences. As a result of these activities agricultural advisors increased the efficiency of their work in the provision of services to clients. The project was successful and led to improvements in the existing websites of the National Association of Agriculture Advisory Services, the National Agricultural University along with the creation of a website for the Ukraine Academy of Agrarian Sciences.
