Completed Projects
"Agricultural Environmental Mitigation as the Way to Sustainable Rural Community Regeneration"
The Vinnytsya Oblast Youth Ecology League (VOYEL Vinnytsya, Ukraine) in partnership with Strong-Coley and Associates (Manitoba, Canada) concentrated on resolving agricultural environmental issues affecting rural communities such as rural water supply and sanitation, and safe disposal of hazardous agricultural chemicals. This work encouraged the development of rural areas and the rural market infrastructure, to ensure long-term sustainable development of these areas. VOYEL and Strong-Coley reached their project goal of increasing awareness of rural communities and local administrations of the problems and risks. They also identified a best practices model for dealing with rural water management and hazardous chemicals and will continue to work to improve the quality of the drinking water. Project activities were completed in December 2005.
