Rural Development and Legal Assistance Center (RDLAC Odesa, Ukraine) will work with Farmer’s Independent Weekly (FIW Winnipeg, Manitoba) to organize a stable information system in agriculture, ensuring accurate, regular and timely information on producers and processors of agricultural products, oblast and rayon state agriculture departments as well as other agricultural market players. Some key activities to assist in their goals are in creasing the circulation of MISA to additional oblasts therefore providing reliable market information to producers; training of additional people to collect, process, and submit information for MISA database; and increasing the distribution of pricing information to rural communities.

“Development of the Approaches for Micro Credits Provision in Rural Area”

Very Useful Company (VUC) (Odesa, Ukraine) in partnership with Communities Economic Development Fund (CEDF) (Manitoba, Canada) is providing access to financial resources by increasing the level of information about micro crediting with the goal to increase the level of availability of micro credits to rural residents in the Odesa region. VUC and CEDF plan to reach their goal by analyzing current legislation; developing new and improved mechanisms for providing rural dwellers with access to credit resources; coordinating and leveraging donors’ technical assistance; and Creating information networks for exchange of the best models of micro crediting. VUC/CEDF plan to hold a donor coordination conference followed by rayon informational fairs throughout Odesa.

Status: Quarter 2 activities underway
